FILES MUST HAVE A 1/4 INCH BORDER. There should be no text or other
important graphic (such as a logo) near the edges of your flyer. The
machines generally cut off between 1/16" to 1/8" off of each side which
could potentially crop important information if your file is not set up
correctly.
THE SIZE OF THE DOCUMENT TO BE PRINTED SHOULD BE THE SAME
SIZE LISTED IN THE PRICING OR TEMPLATES SECTIONS. You can either
create your document using the specified size or download the necessary
template. FOR EXAMPLE, A BUSINESS CARD SHOULD BE SET UP
EXACTLY AS 3.625" x 2.125"; A POSTCARD FLYER AS 4” X 6”, ETC.
DO NOT SET UP YOUR DESIGN ON A LARGER CANVAS SIZE.
For example some people begin with a sheet or canvas of 8.5" x 11" and
then center their design in the middle. This is not correct.
DO NOT PUT CROP MARKS (the lines where you are telling us where to
cut) ON YOUR FILE. We have our own templates and we will cut as close
as 1/16" as possible.
ALL FILES MUST BE CONVERTED TO CMYK COLOR MODE FOR
PRINTING. When you convert RGB files to CMYK you may notice that color
change a shade, darken slightly or lose contrast. In particular, blues
change the most, they have a tendency to turn purplish.
THE FRONT AND BACK OF YOUR DOCUMENT SHOULD NOT BE SET UP
ON THE SAME PAGE. Please create a separate file for the front and back
sides of your document to be printed.
PLEASE LABEL YOUR FILES WITH A TITLE THAT DESCRIBES THEIR
CONTENT THEN SPECIFY FRONT AND BACK TO EACH FILE. This helps
us to identify your files and process your order faster. If everyone sent
their files as "FRONT” & “BACK” we would never know who sent which file.
A good example of correct file names is: “404designs_4x6_front” &
“404designs_4x6_back”
THE RESOLUTION OF YOUR FILE MUST BE AT A MINIMUM OF 300 dpi. If
the resolution is lower, this will negatively affect the print quality and
cause the image(s) to look grainy. We will not reprint or give a refund if
you submit an order under 300dpi.
ACCEPTABLE FILE FORMATS ARE jpeg, tiff, AND pdf.
PLEASE TRY NOT TO USE A THIN BORDER AROUND YOUR IMAGES.
Because of the way the jobs are cut it is very difficult to cut thin borders
precisely and the finished product can come out looking unevenly cut. If
you do choose to add a border, the thicker you make it, the better
(preferably at least a 1/2" thick) and please, as stated above, leave the
text and other important graphics a minimum of 1/4" from the edge of your
designs.
